Denita McKnight is LNG Canada’s Vice President of Corporate Affairs. A joint venture of Shell, Petronas, Mitsubishi, PetroChina and Kogas, LNG Canada is building the country’s first large-scale liquified natural gas (LNG) export facility, in Kitimat, B.C., on the traditional territory of the Haisla Nation.

As a key member of LNG Canada’s leadership team, Denita oversees stakeholder engagement, communications, Indigenous relations and the overall social performance of the project.

Denita has more than 20 years of experience as a Public Relations professional in the oil and gas industry. Her global experience spans nine countries across multiple continents. Prior to joining LNG Canada, she led Shell Canada’s External Relations team, delivering a national integrated reputation and stakeholder engagement plan that helped secure strong support for its Canadian operations from First Nations, local communities, governments and non-governmental organizations.

Denita served as the executive sponsor of Shell Canada’s Indigenous Network and aided in the development and execution of the company’s racial, equity, diversity & inclusion strategy. She has worked to advance numerous social investment programs including growing the #FuellingKindness initiative for Shell Canada.

Denita holds a Bachelor of Applied Communication from Mount Royal University in Calgary and studied political science at the University of Alberta.

In her spare time, Denita can be found trying to keep up with her two active young boys in the mountains, on bike trails and on ice rinks.
