As the CEO of Pestun Consulting and Co-Founder of The Finance Cafe. Shannon is a leading authority on building an inclusive economy. She is an international speaker, advisor and consultant who is committed to working towards closing critical gender gaps in entrepreneurship and in the financial services sector. A former business banker, Shannon was one of the first women in the country to lead a women’s banking strategy and one of seven women appointed to serve on the expert Panel for Canada’s first Women’s Entrepreneurship Strategy. She has been recognized by Canada’s Women Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub for creating emerging financing models.

A leader in her community, Shannon has, and continues to serve as a member on various boards and advisory committees. She is a current member of the Mount Royal University Board of Governors and a board member with NPower Canada. She was previously the Co-Chair and a founding board member of Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Canada.

As a proud member of the Métis Nation of Alberta, she is committed to bolstering Indigenous economic prosperity and wellness by driving regional economic growth through meaningful business partnerships and improving economic conditions for Indigenous peoples. In 2020, Shannon created the Gifting circle for Indigenous women entrepreneurs, the first community-funded bursary that supports Indigenous women who pursue entrepreneurship.
