She is the mother of 7, grandmother and great grandmother to many. Although she is a Residential School survivor and was stripped of her language and culture she was able to reclaim it back. Elder Dr. Becky has an honorary doctorate from Cape Breton University and has been given the title of “Mi’kmaw Language Keeper” and sits on the Elder Advisory Councils for Mi'kma'ki. Elder Dr. Becky has a deep love of education, she has no boundaries and has spent a majority of her life contributing to learning and teaching. Becky’s extensive knowledge includes culture, land-based, Mi'kmaw language, beading, quillwork, wooden flowers, baskets, splints, Waltes game, medicines, trees, roots, to name a few but include much much more. With her soft voice, her nurturing heart, her kind words, we are forever grateful to Elder Dr. Becky.
