Speaker Bio
Brenda Dragon is an Indigenous woman of Dënesųłiné and French Canadian descent. She is also the President & Founder of Aurora Heat—a social enterprise that designs and makes natural, reusable and biodegradable hand, foot and body warmers from beaver fur.

Incorporated in 2015, her business is inspired by her roots as a daughter of wild fur trappers in Northern Canada. Continuing her family’s heritage, Brenda finds meaning in keeping the tradition of wild fur harvesting alive through a social, environmental and economic lens. Aurora Heat provides both mentorship and employment for Indigenous women in the small remote community of Fort Smith, NWT. Informed by Indigenous worldviews of sustainability, Aurora Heat's mission is to encourage ways for the global community to live in harmony with nature.

Today Aurora Heat's warmers are loved by thousands of people across Canada, the U.S. and Europe. Available in select retail stores and online, the company quickly pivoted during the pandemic to cater to a digital-first audience. With retail sales shrinking by half last season, Brenda and her team successfully drove x10 growth in online revenue.
